Reformer Pilates

Increase strength and fitness

In 1912, while stationed at an internment camp at the start of World War I, Joseph Pilates devised the concept, of what would become the Reformer. Using the metal springs from hospital beds, Joseph devised a series of rehabilitation exercises that would aid bedridden German soldiers in returning to health.

So…

A reformer looks somewhat like the frame of a bed. There is a padded sliding carriage. A series of springs which both support and increase the resistance and tension and intensity of movement. The straps, with long and short handles are used for both arm and leg work.

The reformer helps to keep body into alignment, and highlights weaknesses and strengths. Its use will improve your body’s movement patterns and help you to eliminate bad habits. Without question, you will improve posture, strength, and flexibility.

If you have done mat pilates, and understand the principles, it is a further game changer.
